The Associated Press reports more than 2,000 of his “treasures” will be auctioned off from April 14th to the 20th, from the train locomotives to the ferris wheels. But there are some more interesting items up for grabs.
The King of Pop clearly believes his own press. The portrait to the right depicting him as a monarch may fetch as much as US$6,000.00 at auction.
Amongst the scattered gemstone gloves (singles only), socks and Disney memorabilia, is Jackson’s 1911 copy of Peter Pan: The Story of Peter and Wendy about a boy who never grows old. For 50 bucks, it’s a steal — and it’d go nice with the “If The Van’s-a-rockin’” custom spray paint job of Jackson himself as Peter that adorns the hood of… his golf cart.
If Pop Culture is more your thing, a montage mural showing historical figures like Einstein, George Washington, and Mona Lisa wearing Michael’s trademark “Thriller” sunglasses and glove are being auctioned. That’ll run ya about a grand.
The little kid in me is screaming out to put a bid on Jackson’s Sega Flight Simulator, but I don’t have the US$6K it may cost. I bet shipping would be a killer.
Speaking of little kids, anyone else creeped out by an original painting by then 11 year old Macaulay Culkin? And how must he feel about his fine piece going for a mere 300 bucks.
You can even buy the gates to Neverland for the princely sum of US$30,000.00.
