Your Editor in Chief may not own an iPhone (yet, thanks to a screw-up with my account at Rogers Wireless) but if you do, HAINSWORTH.COM will automagically recognize you're surfing the site from your wizbang gizmo using the Safari web browser and reformat everything to accommodate a more Cupertino-like experience.
The red circles with numbers next to the dates indicate the number of comments our 4.5M viewers have made to each article.
And at the bottom of each page there's an option to turn off the iPhone experience to view the whole site as the gods and nature intended.
Oh, and this works for other smartphones, too. If any other exist.

When Apple confirmed it’s latest iPhone would sport an auto-focus 3MP camera, I was thrilled: finally I could jump onboard the iPhone bandwagon and leave my Sony Ericsson k790a behind. I take a tonne of photos of my baby girl, and want a cameraphone I can rely on to reasonably document her world. I’ve since had a chance to put the camera to a real world test: a quick snap using both cameras under the same lighting conditions. Thanks to CTV technology reporter Kris Abel and hand model Lois Lee for the help.

It was always about the camera. The iPhone 3G and its first generation couldn't hold a candle to the camera on my Sony Ericsson K790a. The lack of a proper xenon flash is a big disappointment, but truth be told: I found the flash washed out the image most of the time anyway, so it was usually off.
Interesting to note what the rumour mill accurately churned out. HAINSWORTH.COM readers accurately predicted the likelyhood that the majority of the rumours reported here would be true.
[caption id="attachment_3078" align="aligncenter" width="545" caption="HAINSWORTH.COM Editor in Chief Michael Hainsworth's votes are highlighted in bold. Visitors were asked to select all the rumours they believed were accurate, as reported on HAINSWORTH.COM. Click poll to read the original rumour report."][/caption]
The Apple online demo video ends with "The fastest iPhone yet." And you know what that means: another model in a year. I'm sure by then the video recording will be high definition, there will be a proper flash, and maybe even a dedicated camera button. A forward-facing camera for video calls was one of the rumours too far-out that HAINSWORTH.COM didn't bother to report it -- and wisely so, it seems. But surely the next generation will support this, too.

Rogers Wireless in Canada announced the June 19th availability of the iPhone 3GS via Twitter.
The 16GB iPhone 3GS will retail for $199 with a 3 year voice and data plan while the model HAINSWORTH.COM will be going with is the 32GB for $299. Here's hoping my existing contract and 6GB $30/mo that I'm using for my EDGE-based phone will be honoured.
Further, if you're a Rogers Wireless customer and don't qualify for a subsidized upgrade, you can buy the thing outright, although the price wasn't tweeted as part of the report.

It’s easy to argue the study was stacked in Apple’s favour. Ease of operation and physical design were the heaviest weighted questions within the survey (each responsible for 30% of the total score). Apple’s score of 791 out of 1,000 may not be much of a surprise, then. What’s also not a surprise is Apple ranked very poorly in the battery life department. The iPhone 3G even offers an option to switch to a lower-power (and slower data speed) EDGE mode to conserve the juice. (more…)

China Times is reporting Apple is preparing for three variations.

One is expected to be a higher end model to the existing iPhone 3G. But not every corner of the Earth can communicate at 7.2Mbps, so an EDGE version (described as 2.75G) geared towards those who aren’t able to get high speed — or need the data charges associated with wirelessly surfing the Internet at the same speed as your desktop.

So what about the third? A China-specific CDMA-version to capitalize on one of the fastest growing (and only growing) economies in the world. Getting into China would be a big coup for Apple: particularly since Research in Motion has been trying to claw its way into China Mobile’s space for more than a year — with very little success. China Mobile has it’s own Blackberry called… get this: the Redberry.
