THE
SENATOR RESTAURANT
1890-PRESENT
The original house that was built in the late 1800's at 249
Victoria Street became the location of the Senator... Robert Angeloff,
a Macedonian entrepreneur converted the old house... naming it
the Busy Bee Diner. George Nicolau renovated the Busy Bee, re-opening
and naming it the Senator (in 1948)... it was rightfully purchased
in 1964 by George's heirs, his son Nick Nicolau and newphew Cecil
Djambazis. With Nick quietly toiling in the kitchen and Cecil
cajoling with the customers, the Senator became a downtown landmark,
earning accolades for the `best egg sandwich in town' and coffee
to go from the three famous urns still in our front window.
