References to the iPod Touch supporting the latest 802.11n WiFi networks has been uncovered in the Beta of the new operating system, and the iPhone is likely to sport the same chip. Meantime, AT&T has ordered high end Jupiter Networks routers to accomodate an expected 10x increase in 3G wireless traffic this summer. It’s boosting its speeds from the existing 7.2Mbps to as high as 20Mbps in some areas by June. The 3G speed of the iPhone 3G was a sore spot with critics: yes, technically it was 3G at 3.6 Mbps, but it was half the rate of what some European carriers offered for rival smartphones.
